State of Crisis 2026: Linking New Research to Funding for California Students Experiencing Homelessness
Nearly 300,000 California K–12 students experienced homelessness in the 2024–25 school year, the highest level on record. A new report from the UCLA Center for the Transformation of Schools — State of Crisis 2026: A Deepening Crisis of Students Experiencing Homelessness Across California — examines persistent geographic and racial disparities in student homelessness and gaps in attendance, academic achievement, graduation, and college-going outcomes.
Join UCLA CTS and the National Center for Youth Law for a webinar exploring key findings from the report and California’s historic $116 million investment in supporting students experiencing homelessness. Speakers will discuss strategies for strengthening student supports, improving cross-system coordination, and building sustainable infrastructure, alongside a proposed study examining how districts implement the funding and its impact on student experiences and educational outcomes.
