An estimated 61,249 L.A. County K-12 students experienced homelessness in 2023-24, UCLA researchers found.
Homeless students had higher rates of chronic absenteeism and lower achievement in math and English, according to the analysis.
A separate statewide UCLA report found that California counted 298,254 students experiencing homelessness during the 2024-25 school year, a 10% increase from 2018-19 and the highest number recorded in the study.
