Keisha L. Green is a mama-scholar-activist and critical teacher educator with research interests in English Education, youth literacy practices, critical pedagogies, and humanizing qualitative research. Currently, Dr. Green is an Associate Professor of Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies in the College of Education at UMass Amherst where she is also Founding Co-Director of the Center of Racial Justice and Youth Engaged Research. Dr. Green has served as co-editor of Equity and Excellence in Education and as coordinator for our Secondary Teacher Education Program in English language arts. Additionally, she served as elected Chair of English Language Arts Teacher Education (ELATE), a constituent group of National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and appointed Program Co-Chair for the American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2026 Annual Convention. Dr. Green has published in journals including International Journal for Qualitative Studies; Equity & Excellence in Education; Race, Ethnicity, and Education; and Educational Forum. Additionally, she has authored chapters in edited volumes including Humanizing Research: Decolonizing Qualitative Inquiry with Youth and Communities and Youth Voices, Public Spaces, and Civic Engagement. Recently, I was named Director of Civic Engagement and Research and I continue to be a consultant for area educational institutions supporting their diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
