Menelik Tafari Doctoral Candidate & Researcher

Menelik Tafari is a Doctoral Researcher at the Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS) investigating and supporting community schools, while pursuing a PhD in Urban Schooling at UCLA. His organizing and research agenda focuses on the design of systemic repair and reparations in schools, hospitals, and cities. Outside of his work for CTS, he serves as the Lead Editor of InterActions: UCLA Journal of Education and Information Studies; and an educational consultant who designs  programs that establish belonging, restore dignity, enact justice, and manifest joyful freedom dreams. In his work as a consultant, he conducts curricular reviews, supports the integration of critical global ethnic studies, and establishes processes for educators and attending physicians to collaboratively analyze their instructional praxis to better care for those in their charge.
