Dr. Dumas received his Ph.D. from the the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies Urban Schooling division. His research interests include race in education, systems of student support, and lesser-explored challenges experienced by Black students. His current research examines the experiences and understandings of high performing Black male students attending low performing high schools and their encounters with anti-blackness. Travis has worked on several research projects and initiatives of UCLA’s Black Male Institute (BMI). Now a part of the Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS), Travis joins the “Beyond the Schoolhouse” research team.
